Member Profile – Power Couple Edition

There are so many great couples at CFVB, so we figured we'd feature them together. The first edition of our "Power Couple" profile is Greg & Jen Budde.

Greg has always been an athlete. He is super strong, but has had to re-train his body to move differently that ever before (hello, rack position and overhead squat!). He works really hard on his flexibility and has progressed tremendously. We think he should take a shot at the Masters competition! CrossFit is the first fitness program Jen has stuck to. As a result, she's dropped over 25 pounds, winning the last two Paleo Challenges.

In their non-CrossFit life (does that exist?), they are constantly on the go. Much of their time is spent with family – traveling to watch their son Cam play college football, chasing grandkids, etc.

Jen and Greg are dedicated to CrossFit/health and they are supportive of everything we do – from cheering us on at Oly lift meets to driving to CrossFit events to attending all of the CFVB special events to bringing in friends and co-workers to try out CrossFit.

They have become an important part of our gym…you guys can never leave!

Tell me about your friends/family
Greg says: Married to my best friend. I have a daughter, three sons and five grandsons.

Jen says: We have One daughter, Ashley, three sons Michael, Zack and Cameron and five grandsons Robbie, Anthony, Ashton, Owen & Jude…anyone who knows me definitely knows I love our children and grandsons! We have lots of great friends and we are happy to have some new cave friends.
How did you hear about CrossFit/CFVB?
We stopped in to see Charlie about kickboxing and he told us to check it out.
Favorite WOD/Lift?
Greg: Cindy
Jen: Back squat
Least Favorite WOD/Lift?
Greg: Anything with Burpees
Jen:  Anything with the word snatch in it
Do you/did you ever play any sports before coming to CrossFit?
Greg: I played basketball & football in high school, I was on the firefighters ski team and softball team, karate, Bodybuilding (Mr. Florida 1993)

Jen:  Ummmm……no
What do you do for a living?
Greg: Captain of Training & Safety, Indian River County Fire Rescue

Jen:  I am the Showroom manager for Ceramic Matrix Vero Beach
What do you do for fun?
Greg: Try to keep up with my wife, my kids and my grandkids
Jen: Crossfit? (never thought I would say And Anything and everything with Sledgehammer (Wendy's note: this is Jen's pet name for Greg) …we are now taking Dance lessons, riding bikes and enjoying an empty nest.  
Favorite Paleo Food

    Greg and Jen are such fantastic people. Not only are they awesome and amazing CF-ers but they are wonderful supporters/cheerleaders whether its during a wod or an actual competition. They are an adorable couple and it has been a pleasure getting to know you guys better 🙂

    Jen….you really need to embrace the snatch! Every now and then I make it to a 6 PM class and enjoy working out with you two! You both are doing great and congrats on the weight loss Jen!

    My two favorite people in the box for sure. Greg is a picture of quiet determination… and yes, I think once he gets those double unders down he should entertain the idea of competing in the masters. No one does an overhead squat quite like Jen. They both set their bars high. Personally, I think CFVB should do a profile spotlight on Greg’s 12 pack – it is sick!

    Aww I love them even more now! I guess you guys have different best friends. I’m only kidding but seriously you get extra credit points for saying that Greg. 🙂 Which by the way Greg you will have your double unders in no time. Jen you are a bad ass in my book winning two Paleo competitions back to back. I can barely complete one! I think Charlie should get cut a percentage for these two. 😉

    Greg and Jen, it is a pleasure to have met you both and you both are such a great inspiration at the gym. Greg with his strength and determination sets a pretty high goal for me to attain. Jen with positive attitude and consistant work at improving. Thanks for being part of a great gym.

    Thanks Wendy! Thanks everyone..we love being at Crossfit and it’s all because of the great people….We have lot’s of fun and look forward to getting to know everyone a little better.
    Tiney…Greg is def my best friend too! And you look great.
