  1. I think the Open has been as much a mental test as it has been physical. Because so much time is given to do the WOD, there is time to second guess yourself, obsess about the leaderboard, etc. I’ve done each WOD only once, but I’ve definitely thougt about hitting it a second time in order to improve my standing. This was a good lesson in giving it your all, then moving on.
And my training schedule changed during the Open and I’ve neglected my oly lifts and doing anything too heavy so I’m not super sore.
I’m ready to get this done and focus on the next chapter!
I have been impressed by all of our competitors….and the non-competitors who Rx’ed these WODs are hit them just as hard as if they were registered (Diane, lil Rach, Sundra, Jared, Tara, etc.).

I didn’t compete but was very happy with how I did in the WOD’s. I surprised myself. Even though I wasn’t competing I think doing the open WOD’s made me work a little bit harder. I enjoyed looking at the leader board to see where I would have been had I signed up.
I agree with Wendy about the mental aspect. Seeing everyone do the WOD prior to doing it yourself is mentally draining and scary.
I think everyone did a great job and I am sad that I can’t watch the next stage of the events. We have some of the top athletes out there and I know they will do well.

  3. I have looked forward to every Saturday to watch our own athletes compete for a chance to go to regionals. I think we had more athletes sign on to compete because we were having it at our own box. I have enjoyed watching each and every one of you. We have some that are definitely going to regionals and a couple of them going to the games. Wow, that is great!!! Good luck!!
Even though I was not competing I also got so nervous about doing the wod after watching the first group go first. I was really excited about being able to RX alot of the wod’s and also check the leader board to compared how I was doing with others my age. I am also ready for the next chapter because there is always so much more to learn and improve on.

I signed up, not to go to regionals, but just to see how far I could push myself in a workout. I tend to back off in some workouts because I feel uncomfortable or because of silly things like not being able to breathe. But with the open, I figured, each and every rep counts and it is a chance to move up a couple places with one more rep. It has been fun and challenging and a bit OCD for me.
Here are the WOD’s in the order of How much I disliked them.
    11.1 — the devil
11.5 — scary, thought I would fall off the ttb onto my fanny
11.3 — need to work on those front squats… legs almost imploded
11.2 — need to work on those pushups or learn to kip them 😉
11.4 — the burpees were boring.. the OHS was HEAVY
I would sign up again because it has been fun plotting out the wods with everyone. I’m always amazed at how hard people push themselves at CFVB no matter if they are competing or just getting a good workout in. It is very motivating.

Overall it has been a good experience. AMRAPs don’t usually come up too too often and we have definitely had our share in the open. I love how everyone motivated and pushed each other throughout the all the workouts and it was amazing seeing people pushing themselves to the limit. I too enjoy doing these competitions bc I like to see how I can handle the different workouts and to learn even more what I need to work on (A LOT!!!!!)
I agree with Wendy about my workout schedule being off and am looking forward to getting back to a normal routine.
I can’t wait to see what happends next for our regional competitors and while this is over we still have the throwdowns to look forward to 🙂
