What Does CrossFit Mean to You?

THIS ARTICLE details one woman’s CrossFit experience and how she believes it makes her more focused overall in life (goals, discipline, purpose, leading by example for her

The article got me thinking about how different my life would be without our gym. If it weren’t for my commitment to CFVB I wouldn’t have a sport with goals, so I’d probably be sipping on wine most nights, going through the motions at a globo gym 3-5 days a week. I wouldn’t have an appetite for learning about nutrition, the body, training methods, etc. But, that’s not all…I probably wouldn’t be as happy as I am every day. I feel strong and capable and I’m not concerned at all about turning 40 in a year (hell, I’m looking forward to being a Masters athlete!). And on top of all this, I am surrounded by such a great group that I love to hang with on a daily basis (and that don’t mind hanging out with my dogs!). I wasn’t thrilled about moving back to Vero years ago and now I love it because of our CrossFit community.

Has CrossFit changed you at all? Post to comments.

Danny, Elliott, Wendy…it’s been AWESOME having El back this week. He was one of our first trainers.

I just wanted to say how much fun it was when Elliott was around and how much I liked watching him do crazy stuff. I hope I get to see him while he is here!

Great Article. I’m with you, 40 isn’t quite the scary milestone it used to be. I’m way healthier & stronger at 39 than I was at 29…I figure by 49 I’ll be even better…that’s the plan anyway. It may be a small thing but in everyday mundane tasks and when I’m tired, workout mentality kicks in…”just keep moving” “almost done” HaHaHa…seriously…sad but true…it’ works for me. 😀

CFVB is the highlight of my day. I can have a horrible day, go in with a crummy mood, and come out after with a smile on my face. It’s the people and the challenge that I enjoy so much. I in no way, shape, or form (literally) would be who I am today with out this place!!!

Besides the way CrossFit has changed my physique and movement patterns, it has taught me. I view functional squatting totally different (not just cuz it took me 6 months to achieve it) but I teach it differently with my PT patients daily. “Maybe it’s not that you can’t squat because your knees are bad BUT your knees are bad because you can’t squat correctly”. Pretty sure a few of my CrossFit trainers said that.
