Best of luck to Marla and Liz, who are competing in the MIA Classic Weightlifting meet this weekend. This is a big meet and they will be up against Holley Mangold, who represented the United States in the Olympics!
For anyone wanting to watch it in person, their session is on Sunday at 3:40 PM and tickets can be pre-purchased on Ticketmaster’s website. The event location is Revolution Live in Ft. Lauderdale. The event will be also streamed online, check all the information at www.MIAClassic.com.
An Olympic Weightlifting meet is all about precision. Three attempts are made at each lift, no part of the body except the feet may touch the platform, no press-outs are allow on the snatch and jerk, elbows can’t make contact with the knees on the clean, etc. The rules are completely different (and more technical) from what you’ve seen in CrossFit competitions.
This is the first meet for both ladies and we are pumped to watch them lift. Get it girls!
PS: those of you who registered for the beginner weightlifting class today, it starts at 10 AM.
