Guest Post - Danya

This post, by long-time member Danya, is a powerful one. In order to meet her goals, she had to get out of her head, show up and do the work. She lost a lot of weight in here a few years back and has successfully kept it off. She's also gained a high level of fitness and will be looking like a bombshell for her upcoming wedding! Check out her before and after photos below.

When I first started at Vero Strength and Conditioning, I was extremely nervous and convinced that I was going to make a fool out of myself. I have always found going to the gym to be very intimidating and, having zero knowledge of fitness when I first started, made me feel out of my comfort zone. Let’s be honest, there are times that I still feel out of my comfort zone, but joining this gym was the best decision I have ever made for my physical health, my mental health, and my overall well-being.

I started back in 2013 – I was a new teacher fresh out of college, constantly tired, lived off of the pizza diet, and depressed because I struggled with my weight. I tried every yo-yo diet known to man and quickly realized that I needed to make a real change in order to achieve certain goals and expectations I had in my mind. I will never forget how timid I was my first day walking into the gym, but my fears and insecurities were instantly lifted when I was greeted by Wendy, Rob, and several coaches. The community Rob and Wendy have built is uplifting, helpful, and encouraging and I love coming in daily. Not only do they push you hard, but they provide you with programming that has your health in mind and keeps you injury-free.

Fast forward to today, I feel confident and strong, and I look back at where I started/who I used to be and smile. I am able to do workouts that I thought were intimidating and I am able to set achievable goals and crush them! The best thing you can do for yourself is show up, stop making excuses, and simply just try. It can be difficult to find a gym where you feel accepted, but at Vero Strength and Conditioning, I always feel at home.
