I get some version of this question all the time:
How do I lose… belly fat? Arm fat? Back fat? Cellulite? Armpit fluff? You name it, I’ve heard it.
Usually, the place we’re most fixated on is the last one to change.
Women want a flatter stomach. Men want a six-pack. But here’s the truth: if you have a lot of visceral fat, no amount of crunches will make your abs pop. The path is overall fat loss, not spot training. (Fun fact: There are more millionaires in the U.S. than people with six-pack abs.)
And let’s just say it: all women have cellulite. Literally all of us.
Now, if you’re eating well, sleeping, managing stress, moving your body regularly, maintaining a healthy weight and you still don’t look like a fitness model—please hear this:
Genetics play a huge role. Sure, you can change them to a point, but “perfection” is a myth.
Bodies change. Hormones shift. Gravity shows up to the party. Comparing your 50-year-old self to your 25-year-old self isn’t fair (or productive). Instead, celebrate the strength, resilience, and wisdom you’ve built along the way.
If you’re scrolling social media and feeling worse about your body—unfollow. Those photos are edited, filtered, and curated. They are not reality.
So what is the answer?
Celebrate your body. Take care of it with love. Feed it nourishing food, set goals, lift heavy things, move it in ways that bring you joy. You don’t need a six-pack or smoother thighs to be worthy or happy.
True story: I often look around the gym and marvel at the things all of you can do, things that most people are unable to.
So, do the right things—and not because you’re chasing flawlessness, but because your body is worth the effort. Healthy always looks good.
You are strong. You are capable. You’re doing great. Keep going.
