Your last physical probably covered blood pressure, cholesterol, maybe weight. Here’s one that likely didn’t come up: how much muscle you’re carrying.

A meta-analysis of 49 studies following nearly 880,000 adults for up to 32 years found that low muscle mass was linked to a 36% higher risk of early death, across all causes, including heart disease, cancer, and respiratory illness.  (Full study here)

Think of muscle as infrastructure. It regulates blood sugar, manages inflammation, supports brain health, improves metabolism and gives your body a “buffer” when things go sideways, whether that’s illness, injury, or other unexpected setback.

But longevity isn’t only about how long you live. It’s about what you’re able to do with that time. Muscle and the ability to move well are what keep you chasing after your grandkids, hiking on vacation, and getting off the ground without help. Strength isn't optional. It’s the difference between a life you’re participating in and one you’re observing.

The good news is: you don’t have to become a gym rat. Lifting twice a week is associated with a 15% lower risk of early death. Combine that with consistent cardio and that number jumps to 40%.

That’s exactly what we’re doing at Vero Strength, building the kind of body that holds up, decade after decade.

If you’ve been on the fence about starting or restarting, this is the moment to get off that fence. Schedule a free intro with one of our trainers and let’s figure out where to begin.
