A few weeks ago, I sat down to do quarterly planning for the gym, something I do every quarter. Before I began, I reflected back on the previous quarter and listed all of our wins, our challenges, where we can improve, and then I started mapping out what's next.

There's one question I always come back to before I set any goals or make any decisions: Where do I want Vero Strength to be in three years?

That question is exciting to me. And once I know the answer (and it changes at times), everything else starts to fall into place. It dictates what I say yes to and what gets a hard no. The three-year vision becomes the filter for everything.

As I was going through this process, I realized: this can work for our members, not just my business.

What if you asked yourself these questions:

Where do I want to be in three months? It’s close enough to feel urgent. What needs to change right now? What have you been putting off that actually matters? What small steps can you take today?

Where do I want to be in one year? This is where habits and identity are built. The person you are a year from now is being shaped by the choices you're making today, whether you're intentional about it or not. What does that person look like? What did they let go of? What did they build? Is this person someone who has tied exercise into their identity?

Where do I want to be in three years? This is the hard one because it feels too far off. But think back over the past three years. It went fast! Three years is enough time to completely change the trajectory of your health, your relationships, your life.

Once you answer those questions, there are two more that make a huge difference and put those goals into action:

What will support this? The habits, the routines, the people, the choices pointing you in the right direction. Identify and protect them.

What will deter from it? These are the things that knock us off course. They aren't usually dramatic. They're small, comfortable, and easy to justify. But, they aren’t serving us.

Doing this every quarter keeps me from chasing shiny objects and saying yes to things that don't actually move us forward. So, start with the three-year question and see what comes up. Then, work backwards from there.

If you do this, I’d love for you to share with me at contact@verostrrength.com. Sharing your goals with others makes you more accountable.
