There are two statements that pop up frequently in conversations with clients. They are:

“I’m a lost cause.”

And

"I wish I had done this sooner."

Let’s break these down.

“I’m a lost cause” is stated when someone has let their health and fitness slide over the years, typically when they first come to Vero Strength. It’s heartbreaking to hear, as it seems to be an expression of regret and internalized shame. It often pops up when the person is comparing themselves to others and they feel inadequate. They feel lost. Even embarrassed. Maybe they feel they aren’t good enough. Maybe they fall into the trap of all-or-nothing thinking (if I’m not perfect, I’m worthless).

If this is you, know that you aren’t alone in these thoughts, but realize that we don’t see you that way.

Regret means that you care and that’s a powerful place to build from. Just because you let yourself slide or didn’t take your health seriously doesn’t mean that you can’t start now. Sure, you don’t get to rewind the clock, but you can rebuild your health and strength in your 40s, 50s, 60s and beyond.

You’re at a turning point and you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Similarly, “I wish I started sooner,” can be a mix of self-blame and fear that it’s too late.

Again, a lot of people feel this way, but what this statement can mean is that you’re ready now. What matters is that you DID start. And we are going to help you make it count.

You might feel like a lost cause. You might wish you started sooner. But, those thoughts aren’t the end of your story - they are your turning point. You can’t control the past, so show up NOW, with whatever you’ve got. It’s never too late to begin…or begin again.

Everyone deserves to feel strong, proud and confident, even if it takes time. Start with one doable step.
